Vettaiyan Box Office Collection : Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan Film Surpasses 110 Crore in India but Faces Significant Drop on Day 5

Vettaiyan, the highly anticipated action-drama starring the iconic Rajinikanth and legendary Amitabh Bachchan, has crossed the ₹110 crore net milestone in India. The film, which hit theaters on October 10, experienced a notable dip in its box office collection on its fifth day. According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹5.6 crore net on Monday, October 14.

Strong Start but Declining Numbers

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan opened with an impressive ₹31.7 crore net on its first day, garnering a positive response from audiences. The film maintained its momentum throughout the first four days, with a peak collection of ₹22.3 crore on October 13. However, the numbers took a sharp decline on Monday, indicating a drop in audience turnout post the festive period.

As of now, Vettaiyan’s total box office collection in India stands at ₹110.35 crore net, while its global gross has surpassed ₹200 crore, totaling approximately ₹196.50 crore worldwide.

Plot and Themes

Vettaiyan is centered around a gripping investigation into a series of heinous serial killings. Rajinikanth plays a trigger-happy cop, depicted as a vigilante who believes in taking justice into his own hands. In contrast, Amitabh Bachchan portrays Sathyadev, a principled judge who stands firmly against encounter killings. Their ideological clash forms the crux of the narrative, exploring themes of justice, law enforcement, and social issues.

The film’s trailer sets the tone for this intense drama, with Rajinikanth's character asserting, “It's not wrong for the police to take the law into their own hands when injustice occurs, rather than remaining silent.” Meanwhile, Amitabh's Sathyadev counters with a thought-provoking line, “Justice delayed is justice denied; justice hurried is justice buried.”

Star-Studded Cast and Production

Vettaiyan features an impressive ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami, and Ramesh Thilak. The film is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions and is distributed by Red Giant Movies. The captivating soundtrack, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adds to the film’s dramatic flair. While Vettaiyan began with a strong box office performance, the significant drop on Day 5 raises questions about its staying power in theaters. Nevertheless, the film’s exploration of complex social issues and its star-studded cast continue to draw audiences, contributing to its overall success in both Indian and international markets.

As the film progresses in its theatrical run, fans and critics alike will be keenly observing how it navigates the challenges ahead in the competitive box office landscape.
