Suriya and Jyotika Express Pride Over Daughter Diya Documentary Achievement

 


Acclaimed actor couple Suriya and Jyotika are beaming with pride as they celebrate their daughter Diya's remarkable achievement. The young filmmaker has created a documentary titled Leading Light—The Untold Stories of Women Behind the Scenes, and both her parents took to Instagram to share their joy and admiration for her work.



Suriya, filled with pride, shared the poster of Diya's documentary and added a heartfelt note on Instagram. He wrote, “Dear Diya, I am incredibly proud of you for making this documentary! It’s inspiring to see how you’ve given a voice to the amazing women behind the scenes, and I know this is just the beginning of your wonderful journey. Keep following your passion, I’m so proud to be your Appa, and I can’t wait to see where this path takes you next. With all my love and admiration.”


Jyotika, equally excited, shared the documentary poster along with a touching photo of Diya holding certificates from the Triloka International Filmfare Awards. The proud mother praised Diya for shedding light on gender discrimination faced by female gaffers in the entertainment industry, writing, “Proud of you, Diya, for making such a meaningful student documentary on the discrimination faced by female gaffers in the entertainment industry. Keep it up and thank you for throwing light on this underlying issue.”


The photo revealed that Diya’s documentary won accolades last month, including Best Student Short Film and a special jury award for Best Screenwriter.


Diya, who directed and conceptualized the 13-minute documentary, later commented on both her parents' posts, thanking her ‘appa’ and ‘amma’ for their overwhelming support. The documentary, now available on YouTube, features women working behind the scenes in the Hindi film industry, opening up about their struggles and challenges as gaffers. It’s a significant project that has drawn praise for highlighting the often overlooked contributions of women in the entertainment industry.


Suriya and Jyotika’s Upcoming Projects


On the work front, Suriya, who was last seen in Etharkkum Thunindhavan in 2022, is gearing up for the release of his next major film, Kanguva, directed by Siva, set to hit theatres on November 14 this year. The actor also had notable cameos in Vikram, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, and Sarfira. Additionally, Suriya is currently working on a project with director Karthik Subbaraj and has produced Meiyazhagan, starring his brother Karthi and Arvind Swami.


Jyotika, on the other hand, made her much-anticipated return to Hindi cinema with Shaitaan. She was last seen in Srikanth Odela's critically acclaimed work, and fans are excited to see more of her versatile performances in the coming years.
