Actor Naga Chaitanya has taken to social media to provide an update on the recent controversy involving Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, who made controversial remarks about his divorce from actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The minister had linked their separation to the alleged misconduct of Telangana's Bharat Rashtra Samiti Working President KT Rama Rao. Chaitanya’s father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, has since filed an official complaint, seeking action against Surekha for her crude and baseless allegations.
The row erupted when Konda Surekha accused KT Rama Rao of tapping the phones of actresses, including Samantha, and using the information gathered to blackmail them. She went on to claim that these actions led to Samantha's divorce from Naga Chaitanya. According to Surekha, KT Rama Rao "made actresses drug addicts" and exploited their weaknesses. She stated, "Everyone knows this, Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, his family—everybody is aware that such a thing happened."
The remarks triggered a wave of outrage, prompting Surekha to retract her statement. In a follow-up comment, the minister clarified that her intent was to criticize a political leader for demeaning women, not to target Samantha or her personal life. She said, "My comments are meant to question a leader’s belittling of women and not to hurt your (Samantha Prabhu) sentiments. The way you have grown up with self-power is not only an admiration for me but also an ideal."
However, despite her retraction, the damage was done. Nagarjuna Akkineni filed a formal complaint, emphasizing the need to take legal action against the defamation of his family. Naga Chaitanya, while updating his followers on the matter, expressed disappointment over the false narratives circulating about his family and personal life. Although he maintained his characteristic composure, Chaitanya firmly stated that such rumors and baseless accusations should not be tolerated, especially when they impact the dignity of individuals involved.
As the situation unfolds, fans of both Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu have expressed their support for the actors, calling for an end to the use of personal matters for political gains.
