The much-anticipated return of Fauji, the beloved 1989 Indian television series that introduced Shah Rukh Khan to millions of viewers, is officially happening with a reboot titled Fauji 2. Directed by Sandeep Singh and set to air on Doordarshan, the revival promises to recapture the magic of the original show while introducing a fresh narrative and new talent.

Sonu Nigam Headlines the Music of Fauji 2

Adding to the excitement, renowned singer Sonu Nigam has lent his voice to the title track of Fauji 2. The series will feature 11 songs, composed by a talented team including Filmfare Award-winner Shreyas Puranik, Shashi Suman, and Jazim Sharma, making the soundtrack a significant highlight of the reboot.

A New Era for a Classic Show

Filmmaker Sandeep Singh has partnered with the national broadcaster Doordarshan to bring Fauji back to the small screen. The 1989 version of Fauji remains iconic, largely because it catapulted Shah Rukh Khan into stardom with his portrayal of Lieutenant Abhimanyu Rai. Singh, who holds immense admiration for the original series, expressed his excitement, saying, “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television but in a new and exciting version."

The 1989 Fauji became a national phenomenon, and Singh aims to recreate that same level of impact with the new series. "The 1989 Fauji gave us Shah Rukh Khan, who captivated the entire nation with his extraordinary energy and talent. With Fauji 2, I hope to recreate history and connect with every Indian, especially the youth,” Singh added.

Meet the Cast of Fauji 2

Fauji 2 introduces Bigg Boss 17 contestant Vikas Jain as Colonel Sanjay Singh, and acclaimed actor Gauahar Khan will portray Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specializing in weaponry. The cast also features 12 new faces, selected from across India, bringing fresh talent to the forefront.

Singh elaborated, "Unlike the usual television narratives, Fauji 2 has a unique storytelling style. It's rich in emotion and offers a close look at the lives of army personnel, their bonds despite cultural and religious differences, and their dedication to safeguarding the country."

Doordarshan's Endorsement

Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Doordarshan, acknowledged the legacy of the original show, stating, "Fauji remains one of our most prestigious series. It ruled the hearts of millions, and it’s time to bring it back for today's audience." Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Doordarshan, also expressed excitement: “When we came across the concept of Fauji 2, it took us no time to begin working on this iconic project. The show will be on-air very soon, and we are ecstatic to bring the magic of Fauji back to the Indian audience."

Production Team and Language Accessibility

Produced by Sandeep Singh, with Vicky Jain and Zafar Mehdi as co-producers, Fauji 2 boasts a stellar writing team comprising Amarnath Jha, Vishal Chaturvedi, Anil Choudhary, and Chaitanya Tulsyan. The series also marks the directorial debut of Abhinav Pareek.

To ensure wide accessibility, Fauji 2 will be broadcast in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali.
