Govinda Calls Wife Sunita Tez for Her Bold Style

Govinda Opens Up About His First Impressions of Wife Sunita: ‘I Used to Find Her Very Forward’

In a candid revelation during an old interview, Bollywood star Govinda shared his initial thoughts about his wife Sunita, whom he married after a long courtship. Known for his desi persona both on and off-screen, Govinda confessed that Sunita’s straightforward nature and stylish personality initially made him uncomfortable.

In a conversation on Simi Garewal's popular show, Govinda, famous for his roles in hits like Albela and Coolie No. 1, expressed how Sunita’s modern style and frank demeanor clashed with his traditional outlook. The actor, who considered himself a “completely desi person,” wasn’t accustomed to Sunita’s bold dressing sense and confident attitude.
Recalling his thoughts at that time, Govinda humorously mentioned, “Badi tez lagti thi mujhe, haath mein kutta, skirt pehne, chewing gum khaate... Seedhe baat nahi karti, chewing gum kha ke baat karti hai.” He admitted that her habit of chewing gum while speaking, her love for short skirts, and the way she carried her dog everywhere left him uneasy.

Govinda also shared a particular instance when Sunita would call him by his nickname, ‘Chi Chi,’ in a stylish tone, prompting him to make a cheeky remark: “Main kehta tha, ‘Tum kutte ko aise style se bulati ho? Thoda lehja theek karo, aur thodi zindagi bhi theek karo apni (I used to tell her to get her tone right and to straighten out her life a bit).” Despite his initial discomfort, Govinda later grew fond of Sunita’s unique style and frank attitude. Their love story blossomed from childhood sweethearts to a married couple, eventually becoming one of Bollywood’s most adored partnerships. The actor’s revelation reflects the amusing and relatable differences that often exist in relationships, where contrasting personalities can bring couples closer with time.

Govinda’s charming take on his early impressions of Sunita provides a glimpse into the actor’s personal life, which, like his films, is filled with humor, warmth, and a touch of desi flair.
