The Election Commission has announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections today

In the first phase of elections, votes will be cast for 102 Lok Sabha seats across 21 states.
Announcing the election dates, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated that the election festival is a matter of pride for the nation. He mentioned that the current term of the Lok Sabha is ending on June 16. After reviewing all states, we will ensure a memorable and impartial election with the participation of all. We have 97 crore registered voters and 10.5 lakh polling stations. So far, we have conducted 17 Lok Sabha elections and over 400 state elections.

The Chief Election Commissioner mentioned that nearly 11 elections were conducted within a year, all peacefully. Court cases decreased, and there was an improvement in action against fake news. India's elections are being watched by the whole world. This time, 1.82 crore new voters have joined, with 49.7 crore male voters and 47.1 crore female voters. There are 82 lakh people above 85 years old, and 2.18 lakh people are over 100 years old. There are 1.82 crore first-time voters.

Increase in the Number of Female Voters

The Election Commission stated that there has been an increase in the number of female voters, surpassing males. We also have figures of voters who will turn 18 anytime in 2024. We believe that the youth will not only vote but also help increase the number of voters.

Regarding booth preparation, there will be drinking water everywhere. Separate toilets will be available for male and female voters. Additionally, arrangements will be made for differently-abled voters. The Election Commission will take polling stations to every corner of the country. We will visit the homes of voters over 85 years old and take their votes. This arrangement will be implemented for the first time in the country, and forms will be made available to them.

Rajiv Kumar further stated that we will reach everywhere so that everyone can vote. After polling, arrangements will be made so that no waste material is visible at any booth.
